For seven years we worked closely with Sarah Meigs, managing the collection and exhibition space as well as helping grow and steward the remarkable collection of post-war and contemporary art. We are deeply appreciative of the evolution of our work together with Meigs over the last 10+ years.
 
The work for this unique collection bridged creative and administrative realms as we implemented a varied annual program of exhibitions, lectures, community outreach activities, and educational events. We oversaw marketing and advertising, produced ephemera for all exhibitions and events, managed outgoing loans, appraisals, new acquisitions, staff and interns, and produced the visions of all artists coming into the lumber room for residencies, projects, and visits, including solo projects by Polly Apfelbaum, Tony Feher, Julia Dault, Kate Newby, Michael E. Smith, Julia Dault, Mira Dancy, Jessica Jackson Hutchins, Israel Lund, and Eve Fowler. In addition to solo exhibitions, we collaborated with Meigs on mounting elaborate group exhibitions, with highlights ranging from overseeing the installation of a never before exhibited Sol Lewitt work to the conception of an evolving exhibition including works by more than 40 artists.
 
 We led development of the design and build of the new website for the lumber room which is Meigs’ private home that also serves as artist residency site and exhibition space. We also worked with architect Randy Higgins to create custom storage racks on site to hold portion of the works in the collection and oversaw offsite storage of the remainder of the collection.

The Healing Through Art Collection complements the unique healing model developed by Central City Concern, as well as the award-winning design for the campus created by SERA Architects. The collection is a shared community asset enriching the lives of the thousands of patients, clinicians and visitors receiving services or attending education and community programs at CCC throughout the year. As a key member of the first Healing Through Art’s Art Task Force of Central City Concern, Jablonski worked alongside friend and colleague the late Dan Winter and a an outstanding committee, to fill the walls of CCC. Fourteen30 Contemporary was located in the historic Goose Hollow neighborhood of Portland from 2012 to 2021. We partnered with Los Angeles-based studio Estudio Persona, where designers Emiliana Gonzalez and Jessie Young embody a uniquely female and ever evolving understated creativity. The result was an effortless, distinctive presentation of Leena Similu, one of the most promising contemporary artists based in Los Angeles today.

 Conceived with reverence for the artist’s Bamiléké culture along with facial pareidolia, these new ceramic works were a composite of Similu’s matriarchal lineage, its unifying power and perseverance in the face of adversity. Taking inspiration from the diverse native Oregon vegetation surrounding the modern glass and concrete structure, the exhibition highlights the myriad working practices of artists choosing to live and work in the state.As the hard-edged forms of the glass and concrete architecture meet the natural vegetation beyond, so Bitter cherry, Bleeding heart counterposes those artists working from a logic of abstraction to those mining the variously and deeply alive. The precise abstraction in works by Lynne Woods Turner and Iván Carmona parallels the “rigorous interrogation of site, context, and constraints” at the core of NO ARCHITECTURE’s process of designing and building the Courtyard House. Jessica Jackson Hutchins and Chris Johanson have pushed boundaries of materiality for over three decades, each with a deep humanity pulsing through the works. Maya Vivas and Joanna Bloom draw materials from the earth—clay and porcelain—for their thoughtful monochrome reveries. And Melanie Flood, Rainen Knecht and Elizabeth Malaska use the body, human and otherwise, as a means to express the anxieties and complexities of our common humanity.
