With clients distributed along the West Coast, we decided rather than bringing new work by Leena Similu to exhibit in Oregon, we’d bring the exhibition offsite to Los Angeles where countless art and design clients of ours reside. We partnered with Los Angeles-based studio Estudio Persona, where designers Emiliana Gonzalez and Jessie Young embody a uniquely female and ever evolving understated creativity. The result was an effortless, distinctive presentation of Leena Similu, one of the most promising contemporary artists based in Los Angeles today.

Conceived with reverence for the artist’s Bamiléké culture along with facial pareidolia, these new ceramic works were a composite of Similu’s matriarchal lineage, its unifying power and perseverance in the face of adversity. Twenty-three new ceramics by Similu were presented, viewed, and ultimately purchased for collections throughout the West.
